Sharon, who has competed internationally in archery and rowing, was invited to take a tour of Stoke Mandeville Stadium and hold the Paralympic torch.
During the visit, Sharon met constituent and Olympic torch-bearer, Detective Constable Richard Bazeley of Aylesbury CID (see attached photo).
To celebrate the role of Stoke Mandeville and mark the hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sharon and DC Bazeley joined in a 'kiss' of the silver and gold torches.
Speaking at the stadium, Sharon Bowles MEP said:
"It is a pleasure to see Paralympians from across the world training at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and I cannot wait to see these athletes in action.
"The opening ceremony in London will mark the start of the biggest Paralympics ever but it is great to see that Stoke Mandeville is still at the heart of this inspiring event."
