Sharon Bowles MEP, who represents South East England in the European Parliament, has been named as one of the 'Top 30 Most Inspirational City Women' by a leading industry publication.
A panel for Brummell magazine has shortlisted women who make a contribution to the City over and above their professional capacity - specifically 'women who may have done something innovative and ground breaking which, in turn, inspires others to do the same or go even further.'
Sharon, who is the only elected politician on the list and who was last week voted 'MEP of the year' by MEPs from across the political spectrum for her work as Chair of the European Parliament's powerful Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, was chosen for her contribution to the global regulatory debate.
Said Sharon:
"I am honoured to be chosen as one of Brummell's Top 30 Most Inspirational City Women. Any list that raises the profile of professional women is a good thing.
"We are at a turning point when the absence of women from top jobs is increasingly recognised, although not yet rectified. As this list shows, there are many capable women."
