SHARON BOWLES BACKS CHRIS HUHNE IN LIB DEM LEADERSHIP CONTEST

Today Sharon Bowles, Liberal Democrat MEP for the South East gave Chris Huhne her full support as he declared his intention to run for leadership of the Liberal Democrat party.

Sharon Bowles said "Chris has already proven himself the most worthy of elected members. Having worked at the forefront of the party as an MEP, chairman of a major policy committee and now in the shadow cabinet, he is a confident and strong candidate."

"An active campaigner, he is popular and well respected by all, from the grassroots activists to ministers in Government."

"Our party must look forward and I believe Chris is the perfect person to do this. His election will inject freshness and a new lease of life into the party."

"I will back him all the way."
