What Sharon Did Last Week (27th February - 2nd March)
Monday
Sharon caught her usual Eurostar train into Brussels arriving at 11:00.
From her arrival in her office until 13:00 Sharon worked on Capital Requirements Directive 4 (CRD4), she then had a half an hour pre inter-parliamentary meeting in her office with Adolfo Barberá del Rosal the head of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) Secretariat.
At 15:00, Sharon met a group of A Level Economics Students from Esher College to talk about her work in the Parliament.
Sharon then moved on to chair an inter-parliamentary meeting from 17:00 - 18:45 in the Hemicycle on the dialogue between the European Parliament and National Parliaments on the European Semester and the coordination of policies of Member States.
From 18:45 - 19:30 Sharon chaired ECON.
At 19:30, Sharon attended an inter-parliamentary dinner in the member's dining room with Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, and the chairs of the Budget, and Employment and Social Affairs Committees.
Tuesday
At 9:00, Sharon chaired an inter-parliamentary debate in the Hemicycle on "International agreement on a reinforced economic union: what next?"
From 11:00 - 12:00 Sharon worked on CRD4, in between she met with the DK Presidency regarding the annual growth survey. At 14:00, Sharon had a 15 minute interview with the Tokyo stock market index, Nikkei.
At 14:30 - 15:00, Sharon met with Edward Scicluna MEP and Vice-Chair of ECON to discuss the European System of National and Regional Accounts (ESA 2010), of which Sharon is rapporteur.
Sharon then took the Chair from 15:00 - 18:30 in the ECON Committee where the above matter and amendments were discussed.
From 18:30 - 19:30 Sharon attended an ALDE ECON preparatory meeting in the Parliament on tax, excise, and account preservation.
Wednesday
From 9:00 - 12:30 Sharon took the Chair in the ECON Committee where amendments to Credit Ratings Agencies (CRAs), Undertakings of Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS), and Alternative Investment Funds Managers (AIFM) Directives were discussed with an Economic dialogue with the Hungarian Minister of State for Strategy of the Ministry of National Economy, Zoltán Cséfalvay.
At 13:00, Sharon had a half an hour meeting with Martin Bresson, Representative of Denmark to the EU, to discuss CRD4. Sharon then spent from 13:30 to 15:30 working on amendments CRD4.
At 15:30, Sharon returned to take the Chair in Committee where the Common system for taxing financial transactions and amendments were discussed and an economic dialogue took place with Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the Eurogroup.
At 18:30, Sharon attended the launch of the ALDE SME where she signed the manifesto to improve further investment and growth in the SME sector.
Thursday
At 10:00, Sharon attended the Public Hearing as a panellist for discussion of the Directive on the Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision at the Albert Borschette Conference Centre in Brussels.
At 17:00, Sharon caught the Eurostar back to the UK where she then attended a commemoration event for the late David Griffiths at the National Liberal Club in London.
Friday
Sharon travelled into London to appear on the BBC's Daily Politics and midday. You can see her appearance here.
After, Sharon returned to her constituency office for a staff team meeting, to take media calls and to continue work on amendments to CRD4.
