What Sharon Did Last Week (19th-23rd March)
Monday
Sharon took an early morning train to attend and speak at the Chatham House City Series Conference, on the impact of financial reform legislation, in London.
At 12PM Sharon joined The Institute for Legal Affairs at Senate House where she gave a speech on 'Reforming European and UK Financial Regulation'.
At 6.30PM Sharon hosted a British Bankers' Association Reception, at the Solvay Library in Brussels, on the EU and the financial services sector.
Tuesday
At 9AM Sharon took the Chair in an ECON (Economic and Monetary Affairs) Committee meeting, with an exchange of views from Commissioner Algirdas Semeta, Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union.
At 11AM Sharon attended a meeting with the President of Switzerland, Ms Eveline Wider-Schlumpf alongside Martin Schulz, the President of the European Parliament.
At 12.30PM Sharon attended an ALDE (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) group ECON meeting.
Then at 3PM Sharon took the Chair in an ECON Committee meeting on EU Social Entrepreneurship and EU Venture Capital Funds.
Wednesday
Sharon arrived at the Parliament at 9.00am and immediately went through the days proceeding with her staff.
Then at 10AM Sharon took the Chair in an ECON meeting, where votes were taken on ESA 2010 (European System of National and Regional Accounts), CCCTB (Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base), and Omnibus II.
At 1.30PM Sharon had a meeting in her office with Ashutosh Kumar, Managing Director of Standard Chartered Bank.
At 3PM Sharon returned to take the Chair in an ECON meeting with an exchange of views with Commissioner Michel Barnier, Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services.
Sharon then left the European Parliament at 7.30PM, and took a flight from Brussels to Dublin in preparation for the International Banking Conference on Thursday.
Thursday
Sharon attended the International banking Conference in Dublin, flying back to London at 4PM.
Friday
At 10AM Sharon spoke at a roundtable hosted by REFORM, a non-party think tank, on 'The future of Government and financial services: The European dimensions.'
Then at 12.30- 2.30PM Sharon attended a lunch meeting with the Association of European Journalists.
