What Sharon Did Last Week (23rd - 27th April)
Monday
Sharon caught her usual Eurostar to Brussels arriving at midday.
Sharon spent the day working in her office on various legislative dossiers, including amendments to the Accounting and Transparency Directives due for submission in the ECON Committee on Tuesday.
At 17:30, Sharon had a meeting in her office with Arttu Makipaa from the ECON secretariat, on European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Tuesday
At 09:00, Sharon had a bilateral meeting with Othmar Karas, the rapporteur for CRDIV, in his office. After, Sharon returned to her office for a meeting with Jean-Baptiste de Franssu, former CEO of Invesco, on MiFID.
At 11:00, Walter Radermacher, the Director General of Eurostat came to Sharon's office for a meeting regarding statistics, and in particular ESA 2010 of which Sharon is rapporteur.
At 12:00, Sharon chaired a trialogue on EBRD.
For the rest of the afternoon, Sharon worked on CRD IV in her office, and met with Andreas Reinhardt from the ECON secretariat.
Wednesday
At 09:00, Sharon chaired a monetary dialogue in the ECON Committee with Mario Draghi, President of the European Central Bank.
After the monetary dialogue, at 11:00, a Vice-Chair took over from Sharon as she, and ECON Vice-Chair Arlene McCarthy, met with Mario Draghi.
At 11:30, Sharon returned to her office to meet with Arlene McCarthy and Adolfo, head of the ECON Secretariat, to discuss the Market Abuse Directive. After, Sharon spent time working on CRD IV ahead of the impending amendment deadline.
At 12:30, Sharon attended a CRD IV shadows meeting.
At 14:15, Sharon met with her former parliamentary assistant, Richard Spooner, who now works for the UK Permanent Representation to the EU (UKREP).
At 15:00, Sharon took to the Chair of the ECON Committee to oversee a session which included a vote on a Financial Transaction Tax and MiFID. After, at 17:30, Sharon attended an ALDE ECON meeting on the Capital Requirements Directive.
Thursday
At 09:00, Sharon chaired the ECON Committee. During this session, Credit rating Agencies were discussed. After, at 10:30, Sharon returned to her office to spend some time writing various speeches.
At 13:00, Sharon took lunch with her fellow Liberal Democrat MEP, Andrew Duff, and Harald Stieber, an Austrian Liberal who works for the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs in the European Commission. After the lunch, Sharon returned to her office and her speech writing.
At 16:00, Sharon met with Sally Springer, Senior Policy Officer for the British Bankers' Association, to discuss MiFID. After, Sharon again returned to speech writing and left the office at 19:30.
Friday
At 09:30, Sharon met with Jonathan Faull, the Director General for the Internal Market and Services in the European Commission, to discuss MAD. After, at 10:45, Sharon met with Nadia Calvino, Deputy Director General for the Internal Market and Services in the European Commission, to discuss bail-ins.
At 13:00, Sharon took lunch with Xavier Rolet, CEO of the London Stock Exchange.
At 14:00, Sharon attended the European Commission's Shadow Banking Conference where she gave the keynote speech.
