What Sharon Did Last Week (21st - 25th May)

Monday

As the week is a plenary week, and so the European Parliament moves to Strasbourg, Sharon flew from Heathrow at 08:30, arriving into her office at 14:00.

At 15:30, Sharon attended an ALDE Group meeting to discuss Tuesday's voting agenda and to allocate the distribution of speaking time during the plenary sessions.

At 17:30, Sharon attending a meeting of LDEPP to discuss the week's voting agenda.

At 19:00, Sharon took to the Chair of the ECON Committee to oversee a meeting on, among other things, Rule 70 of the Rules of Procedure on interinstitutional negotiations in legislative procedures.

Tuesday

At 08:30, Sharon had a bilateral meeting with Othmar Karas, the rapporteur for the latest version of the Capital Requirements Directive, CRD IV.

At 10:30, Sharon went to the European Parliament's media studio to record an interview for the BBC's Today Programme on Greece's current situation in the Eurozone crisis. After, at 11:00, Sharon had a meeting with Peter Skinner MEP on Omnibus II.

At 12:00, Sharon attended a voting session of the European Parliament. After, at 13:15, Sharon met with Adolfo, the head of the ECON secretariat.

At, 13:30, Sharon attended a meeting of the Conference of Committee Chairs.

At 15:00, Sharon met with Joaquin Almunia, European Commissioner for Competition, for an exchange of views. After, Sharon returned to her office at 16:15 for a meeting with the Cypriot Ambassador.

At 17:30, Sharon had an interview with a journalist regarding the austerity vs. growth debate.

At 18:00, Sharon spoke on the telephone with Antony Manchester from UK REP regarding ECON related legislation in the European Council.

Wednesday

At 09:00, Sharon had a meeting with Michel Barnier, the European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services for an exchange of views. After, at 10:00, Sharon had a meeting with Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Transport, to discuss the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

At 12:00, Sharon attended a voting session of the European Parliament, a session which included the Parliament's vote on the Financial Transaction Tax. LINK TO PR

At 14:00, Sharon returned to her office to take a phone call from Mark Hoban, Financial Secretary to the Treasury.

At 15:30, Sharon chaired the first trialogue on CRD IV and the Capital Requirements Regulation.

Thursday

At 09:00, Sharon attending a prep meeting on the 4th trialogue of the Omnibus II Directive, before chairing the trialogue itself.

After, at 12:00, Sharon attended the last voting session of the week.

At 14:00 Sharon took a train back to Brussels, arriving at 17:50.

Friday

At 09:00, Sharon gave the opening remarks at a conference on 'How to Restructure the EU Banking Sector'. Other speakers at the conference included Paul Volcker, Advisor to President Barack Obama and former Director of the US Federal Reserve, Sir John Vickers, Economist (Oxford University) and Chair of the UK Independent Commission on Banking, and Michel Barnier, Commissioner for Internal Market and Services.

After the conference, Sharon took a Eurostar back to London.
