What Sharon Did Last Week (18th - 22nd June)

Monday

Sharon took her normal morning Eurostar to Brussels and spent the morning with her Parliamentary staff arranging the agenda for the week ahead.

Sharon spent from 1-1.30pm working on Competition Amendments on interinstitutional negotiations in legislative procedures, or 'Rule 70'.

At 2.00pm Sharon attended the ALDE (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) ECON (Economic and Monetary Affairs) group to discuss forthcoming ECON matters.

Then at 3.00pm Sharon took the Chair in ECON Committee where Stability Bonds and Rule 70 were discussed and an exchange of views took place with Steven Vanackere, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Sustainable Development.

Tuesday

From 9.00am-12.00pm Sharon took the Chair in ECON Committee where MiFID (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive), EMIR (European Market Infrastructure Regulation on OTC (Over-The-Counter) Derivatives, MAD (Market Abuse Directive), and the 2013 Budget were discussed.

At 12.30pm Sharon worked on the Accounting and Transparency dossiers in her office.

Then at 3.00pm Sharon took the Chair again in ECON Committee where an exchange of views took place with JoaquĆ­n Almunia, Commissioner for Competition, and votes were taken on CRAs (Credit Rating Agencies) and Accounting and Transparency.

At 6.30pm Sharon attended a meeting in preparation for Omnibus II Trilogue.

Wednesday

At 9.00am Sharon attended a meeting in preparation for the third trilogue on Venture Capital Funds and Social Entrepreneurship Funds.

At 1.00pm Sharon chaired the sixth trialogue on Omnibus II (Commissioner Michel Barnier was in attendance).

At 4.00pm Sharon debriefed an ECON working group on the European semester on her meeting with Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament.

At 4.30pm Sharon met with Pierre Ecochard from the ECON Secretariat.

At 5.00pm Sharon met with Treasury officials to discuss the Vickers Report.

At 6.00pm Sharon met with Sir Jon Cunliffe, UK Ambassador to the EU.

Sharon then met with representatives from HM Treasury to discuss the Vickers Report.

Thursday

At 8.30am Sharon chaired the third trilogue on ESA (European System of Accounts) National and Regional Accounts.

At 10.30am Sharon chaired a trialogue on European Social Entrepreneurship Fund.

Then at 2.00pm Sharon met a visitor group of European Studies students from the University of Reading.

At 3.30pm Sharon met with Constantios from the upcoming Cypriot Presidency (the bi-annual member state administration to the European Council) to discuss CRD (Capital Requirements Directive).

Friday

Sharon took a 9.00am Eurostar back to London and spent the rest of the day in her Constituency office.
