What Sharon Did Last Week (27th - 30th May)

Monday

Sharon took a 9am Eurostar for the start of committee week.

At 3pm Sharon took the chair in ECON (Economic and Monetary Affairs) Committee where the FTT (Financial Transaction Tax) was discussed and an exchange of views took place with Michel Barnier, Commissioner for the Internal Market.

Tuesday

At 10am Sharon took the chair in ECON Committee where a vote was taken on regional aid and an exchange of views took place with Joaquin Almunía, Commissioner for Competition.

Then at 12.30pm Sharon met with Commissioner Almunía.

At 2pm Sharon attended an MEP meeting with the British Embassy to discuss trade.

Sharon then delivered a speech to the Open Conference of Presidents.

At 3.30pm Sharon took the chair in ECON Committee where the fight against tax evasion, PRIPs (Packaged Retail Investment Products), and insurance mediation were discussed.

Wednesday

From 9.30am-12.30pm Sharon attended a trilogue on MAR (Market Abuse Regulation).

At 2pm Sharon attended a working group meeting on EMU (Economic Monetary Union).

Then at 4pm Sharon attended a Eurostat Conference.

Thursday

At 8.30am Sharon attended an Open Coordinators meeting on EMU.

Then at 10.30am Sharon met with Eivile Cipkute, the Director of Financial Markets Policy in Lithuanian Ministry of Finance, to discuss MiFID (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive).

Sharon met with representatives from the Bank of England and Barclays to talk about Solvency II.

Sharon took a 4pm Eurostar back to Brussels.

Friday

Sharon spent the day in her Constituency office.
